Men's Soccer Drops Decision to Carleton

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's soccer team was blanked Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference meeting at Carleton College, where the Knights were able to hold off the evenly matched Saints to win 2-0.

First Half
The first half was extremely close, with two shots on goal from Carleton and one for CSS.

21 minutes into the game, the first shot on goal of the game quickly turned into a goal for the Knights as the ball was tapped past St. Scholastica goalkeeper Corrado Rosato (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Carleton was then on the board and would end the half with a score of 1-0.

Second Half
Just like the first half, the second also approved to be break even for both teams. St. Scholastica had two shots on goal and Carleton had three.

The next and final goal of the game would be scored by the Knights with only 10 minutes left to go in the game, bringing the score up to 2-0.

Only two minutes remained in the game when a red card was given out to a CSS player. This was the final blow to the Saints. Continuing the game one player short, the Saints were unable to put a point on the board, making the final score 2-0 in Carleton's favor.

Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School), Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) each had a shot on goal for the Saints. Goalkeeper Rosato stopped three out of the five shots that he faced.

The Saints host Crown College on Saturday at Saints Field. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. CSS will go for the NCAA record for consecutive games without a loss against a conference opponent in this game.
