ASHLAND, Wis - (csssaints.com) The St. Scholastica men's soccer team shut out Northland College 3-0 on Wednesday night, finding success after last weekend's Bridge Battle loss against UW-Superior.
The Action
St. Scholastica outplayed the LumberJacks offense from the beginning. The Saints tallied 19 shots in the first, while Northland only managed three. The Saints collected their first goal midway through the first half thanks to Jordan Lennon (London, England/Chadwell Heath Academy), assisted by Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School). 15 seconds later, Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) beat the keeper for an unassisted goal, putting the Saints up 2-0 after 27:15 had passed in the game. There were five more shots on goal during the half for the Saints as they continued their offensive onslaught, but none found their way past the goal line.
CSS continued to control the game over the course of the second half. They recorded 19 more shots during the final half, allowing the LumberJacks to fire off only five. The third and final goal of the game didn't come until the final 20 minutes of play when Josh Robak (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral) found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) was credited with an assist on the goal.

For the LumberJacks, Hector Gona had four of the five shots that challenged the Saints' keeper. Keeper Thomas Whiting saved 17 of the 20 shots he saw.
