DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Superior scored two first half goals and that held up to defeat the St. Scholastica men's soccer team 2-0 in a non-conference game Sunday at Saints Field.

The Action
It didn't take long for the Yellowjackets to light up the scoreboard as Gio Rodriguez hit a strike into the top right corner to make it 1-0 UWS in the seventh minute of action.

Jon Bucklew added to Superior's lead in the 30th minute, burying the ball into the net following a scramble in front. There was some discussion on whether UWS was offside, but the goal stood.

That is where the score held the rest of the way as the Saints played a little more even in the second half with their best scoring chance coming from a Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) header right in front of the net, but UWS goalkeeper Ben Wilhelm made the save to make the final 2-0 UWS.

Sandy Davidson-Hunt (Kenora, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) saw his first action in goal this season for the Saints and made a couple of great saves to keep it only a two-goal margin.

Up Next
The Saints (9-7-0) will have another non-conference game against a conference foe on Wednesday when they play at Northland College. Action will begin at 5 p.m.
