NEW ULM, Minn. (csssaints.com)- The College of St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated Martin Luther College 5-3 in the last conference game of the season on Saturday; clinching the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) title outright for the seventh straight year.

The Action
CSS got off to a rough start, allowing the Knights to score in the first minute of the game with a pass over top that was shot into the left corner.

Darby Henderson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), with the assist from Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School), was able to tie the score 1-1 up a few minutes later with a shot into the right side of the net. Buckton and Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) assisted to Jonny Harkin (Birmingham, England/St. Benedicts School) a minute later, putting the Saints in the lead 2-1.

This lead would only last 10 minutes as Martin Luther would sail one into the CSS goal with a header shot to tie the game up 2-2. CSS, however, would come back to lead with two more goals before the end of the first half. Folkes, with an excellent assist from Kyle Farrar (London, England/Kelsey Park Sports College), scored his fifth goal of the season, bringing the score to 3-2. Farrar and Armin Bobaric (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) set up Jordan Lennon (London, England/Chadwell Heath Academy) to give St. Scholastica a larger lead at 4-2 and end the first half.

The Knights got the second half started with an early header goal, narrowing the lead 4-3. Soon after, a St. Scholastica player received a red card, leaving the Saints with one less player on the field for the rest of the game. This ejection didn't seem to faze the Saints, as Harkin would get his second goal of the game off a penalty kick. The goal brought the score up to 5-3, which would be the final score.

Buckton led the Saints in shots on goal, with three. Harkin had two, and six other players had one shot on goal. Corrado Rosato (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) saved three out of the six shots he faced.
