csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team was held to one shot on goal in a 3-0 loss to eighth-ranked University of St. Thomas on Sunday at Saints Field.
The Action
The Tommies got the scoring started five minutes into the game when Mark Heydt played a cross into the box where Christian Elliehausen made a run and flicked it over the CSS goalkeeper to give St. Thomas a 1-0 lead.
The Tommies then earned a free kick at the top of the box in the 35
th minute and Shae Bottum executed it, bending the ball around the wall and just inside the right post to make it 2-0 St. Thomas.
St. Thomas added its third goal in the 57
th minute as a CSS turnover ultimately led to a tap-in goal for Pierce Erickson to make the final score 3-0.
Corrado Rosato (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) made six saves in the loss for the Saints, while Aidan Hogan had to stop one
Luke Buckton (Bath, England/Writhlington School) shot in the first half to earn his sixth shutout of the season.
