MORRIS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team led by as much as 12 in the first half, but after that point was out-scored 78-50 as the University of Minnesota Morris shot 67 percent from the field in the second half to win going away 91-75.
Saints Get HotWith the score tied 13-13 with seven minutes elapsed in the game, the Saints caught fire from three, making four straight field goals, including back-to-back treys from
Marc Peterson (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) to take a 25-13 lead midway through the half.
The Cougars responded with six straight points, but CSS managed to stay in front and led at halftime 39-37.
Morris on Fire in the Second HalfThe Cougars opened the second half with a 3-pointer to regain the lead. After the teams traded the lead a few times Morris went on a 25-5 run over the span of eight minutes to take a 17-point lead.
The Cougars were 22-of-33 from the floor in the second half and won by a final score of 91-75. Morris had a 32-12 scoring advantage in the paint in the half, after being out-scored 20-14 in the first half. The Cougars also had 14-5 advantage in fast break points in the half.
Top Performances for CSSJake Naslund (Barnum, Minn./Barnum HS) led all scorers with 21 points.
Julius Johnson (Minneapolis, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) added 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds and six assists.
Zach Dahlman (Braham, Minn./Braham HS) added nine points off the bench
Top Performances for MorrisThe Cougars had five players score in double figures led by John Haseman with 16 points. The conference's leading scorer CD Douglas had 15 points. Noah Grove had 14 points off the bench.
