Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) tied the game on the power-play with 3:26 remaining and the No. 15 St. Scholastica men's hockey team tied University of Wisconsin-Stout 3-3 on Tuesday night.
Second PeriodAfter a scoreless first period, the Blue Devils scored early in the second when Justin Moody netted a goal 29 seconds into the period. The Saints tied the game three minutes later on a
Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) power-play goal. Millin and
Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) had the assists.
Later in the period with five minutes left,
Justin Krabben (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta/Hunting Hills HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) gave St. Scholastica its first lead of the night to make it 2-1 at the second intermission. Bruce and Nowakowski had the assists.
Third PeriodStout evened the game with another early period goal to begin third as Joe Kleven made it 2-2. The Blue Devils re-gained the lead with 5:46 remaining when Dylan Zins scored on a breakaway.
The Saints went on the power-play with four minutes remaining and took advantage as Millin beat the Stout goaltender to tie the game 3-3 with 3:26 left. Nowakowski and Bruce again had the assists.
CSS got another power-play in the final two minutes of regulation, but could not convert as the game went to overtime.
OvertimeAfter Stout killed off the Saints power-play early in overtime, the Saints had to kill off a Blue Devil power-play and did so as
Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) stopped all three shots he faced. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Special TeamsThe Saints killed four power-play opportunities for Stout and converted two-of-five power plays themselves.
GoaltendingTyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) made 39 saves for the Saints, while Spencer Viele had 18 saves for the Blue Devils.
