DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team got a power-play goal from Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) and an empty-netter from Derek Sutliffe (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School (Langley Rivermen-BCHL) ) to defeat No. 15 Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) 2-0 on Friday night in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) action at Mars Lakeview Arena.

Third Period Success
After a scoreless first two periods, Bruce found the back of the net on the power-play with 12:20 remaining in regulation. Mark Whiteley (Surrey, British Columbia/Holy Cross HS (Marian University)) and Steven Phee (Balzac, Alberta/George McDougall HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) had the assists. Bruce and Whiteley have each recorded at least one point in four straight games.

With seconds remaining and the MSOE goalie pulled, Sutliffe outskated the Raider defenseman to the puck and buried the empty net to make the final 2-0. Joel Paiement (Okotoks, Alberta/Holy Trinity Academy (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) was credited with an assist. The Saints have out-scored opponents by 12 goals in the third period this season.

Another Shutout for Bruggeman
For the second time in a week, senior goaltender Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) recorded a shutout, stopping all 20 Raider shots in the victory. It marks the first time in his career Bruggeman has recorded multiple shutouts in a season.
