Dakota Paulson (Menomonie, Wis./Menomonie HS) threw for 357 yards and led the Saints on a pair of fourth quarter scoring drives to escape Eureka College (Ill.) with a 21-14 victory … With the score tied at 14-14, Paulson found tight end
Shane Finnegan (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) in the back of the end zone with seven seconds left to give CSS the victory … Finnegan had five of his six receptions in the fourth quarter, including a pair of touchdowns and key fourth down conversion on the game-winning drive …
Mitch O'Neil (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) had six receptions for 70 yards …
Mason Bloomquist (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS ) and
Alex Mangan (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) each had six tackles.
Air Raid: Paulson was 27-of-44 through the air in Saturday's win … The 27 completions set a new program record, while the 44 pass attempts were the second-most in a game … The 357 passing yards are the fourth-highest total in program history.
Gassert Reaches 1,500: Senior running back
Chris Gassert (Moose Lake, Minn./Moose Lake HS) became the fourth player in program history to reach 1,500 yards rushing in a career … He is currently second all-time averaging 6.4 yards per carry.
Another Team of the Week Honor: For the second consecutive week St. Scholastica was represented on the D3football.com Team of the Week as junior tight end
Shane Finnegan (Woodbury, Minn./Hill-Murray HS) was honored for his performance last week at Eureka … The week prior,
Mason Bloomquist (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna HS ) earned the accolade … This is the second time Finnegan has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week in his career as he was named last season following the Saints win against the University of Northwestern.
Keeping the Ball: Once again the Saints won the time of possession battle in Saturday's win at Eureka … In fact, the Saints ran 23 more plays than Eureka, holding the Red Devils to 54 plays from scrimmage … The 54 plays are the second-fewest allowed in program history (50 vs. Westminster-2012).
UMAC Streaks: The Saints have won 23 straight UMAC games; a streak dating back to October 20, 2012 … CSS has lost only one UMAC game in the last four seasons … CSS has also won 20 straight conference road games, dating back to the 2010 season … The last conference road loss came at Martin Luther College on September 25, 2010.
20 is the Magic Number: The Saints are 44-0 since 2010 when they score at least 20 points … They are only 1-16 all-time when they don't reach 20 points … That lone win came against Northwestern in 2010.
