DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team fell to Macalester College by a final score of 2-0 on Friday at Saints Field marking its first loss of the young season.

First Half
Macalester struck early in the first half on a goal by Austin Burrows in the 9th minute of the match to put CSS in an early 1-0 hole.

The rest of the half was played out fairly evenly with each team managing no more than six shots on goal for the entire half.

Second Half
The second half saw a back and forth effort by both teams with each side trading shots on goal. Unfortunately for CSS, Macalester hit paydirt first with a penalty shot goal late in the 78th minute after a Saints penalty.

CSS tried in desperation to score a few late goals, but all was for naught as they suffered their first loss of the season on their home field by a final score of 2-0.

Jonny Winter (Healthfield, England/Healthfield Community College) led the attack for the Saints recording four shots on goal while goaltender Sandy Davidson-Hunt (Kenora, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) stopped four shots for the Saints.
