FORT PIERCE, Fla. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica baseball team swept a doubleheader from Bridgewater State University (Mass.) on Monday, winning game one 4-0 and rallying to win game two 4-2.
Game 1: CSS 4, BSU 0 Senior
Padraic Getchell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS (North Dakota) ) allowed only two hits, walked one and struck out six in the complete-game shutout for the Saints.
Chris Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS ) followed a
Brian Minks (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral HS ) double with a RBI single in the second inning to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. It stayed 1-0 until the bottom of the fifth when
Al Marolt (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) singled in Olson and then
Jesse Heaton (Heyworth, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic HS ) singled in
Jake Kuschke (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS ) to extend the lead to 3-0.

Minks and Olson each had a pair of hits to pace the CSS nine-hit attack.
Game 2: CSS 4, BSU 2 The Saints scored three runs in the top of the sixth to rally past the Bears for a 4-2 victory to complete the sweep.
After CSS had runners at the corners with nobody out and could not get a run across in the top of the second, Bridgewater State took its first lead of the day with a RBI single in the bottom frame.
The Saints responded in the third when D. Colvard scored on a wild pitch. The Bears regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI groundout.
It was 2-1 Bridgewater State entering the sixth inning.
Steven Neutzling (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral ) began the inning with a single. After a sacrifice, Minks singled to put runners at the corners.
Shayne Ciernia (Eagan, Minn./Breck HS ) followed with single, driving in Neutzling to tie the game at 2-2.
With two outs and the bases now loaded, Kuschke would get a RBI single to plate Minks and give the Saints a 3-2 lead. D. Colvard was then hit by a pitch to drive in Marolt to make it 4-2.
Zack Farmer (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) then entered the game and after allowing a hit to the first batter he faced, he proceeded to retire the next six batters to complete the save and give CSS the 4-2 victory.
Mickie Keuning (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Angelo State)) earned the win, allowing four hits in five innings of work. Neutzling and Ciernia had a pair of hits. CSS finished with nine hits in the game.
