Following a Chris Olson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS ) walk, Jordan Risse (Sioux Falls, S.D./Washington HS ) knocked in both Bernsdorf and Neutzling on a double to center. Risse would score the final run of the inning on a Michael Grove (Edina, Minn./Edina HS ) single, giving Grant Rindal (Superior, Wis./Superior HS ) a healthy 4-0 cushion early in the contest. The Saints would tack on an additional run in the top of the second to push the score to 5-0, while Rindal was mowing through the Ram lineup, facing just 10 batters in the first three innings of work.

Olson scored on a Grove single to right, and a Ryan Burmeister (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS (Augustana, S.D.) ) single would bring Risse home. A Jesse Heaton (Heyworth, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic HS ) double to left would bring both Burmeister and Grove home to cap off the scoring and give CSS a comfortable 13-0 lead.
