Men's Hockey Drops First Game in Final Minute of OT

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (csssaints.com) – The No. 13 St. Scholastica men's hockey team sent Friday night's game into overtime in the waning moments, but Lake Forest College (Ill.) had the last say, scoring the game-winner with 43 second remaining in overtime to hand the Saints their first loss 4-3.
 
Third Period Rally
The Foresters led 2-1 at the second intermission and made it 3-1 one minute and 19 seconds into the third period on a Mark Esshaki goal.
 
Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ) cut the margin in half three minutes later with an unassisted goal to make it 3-2. It stayed 3-2 until Millin found Justin Krabben (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta/Hunting Hills HS (Canmore-AJHL) ), who ripped one into the net with two seconds remaining to tie it at 3-3 and send the game into overtime.
 
Overtime
Both teams had chances in OT, but the Foresters put the puck in the net with 43 seconds left in overtime as Esshaki scored his second of the night to give Lake Forest a 4-3 victory.
 
CSS Controlled Play
The Saints out-shot the Foresters 44-24, recording double-figure shots in all three periods of regulation, while limiting Lake Forest to single digits in each three. Lake Forest goaltender Leo Podolsky made 41 saves to earn the win, while Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) had 20 saves in the loss.
