MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The No. 25 St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated the University of Minnesota-Morris by a final score of 1-0 on saturday with CSS scoring the lone goal with under 10 minutes to play.

First Half
The first half of the match saw a back and forth effort on both sides of the ball as neither team managed to net a goal. CSS did outshoot Morris with four shots on goal to one in the first half, but Cougar goalkeeper Cody Christ managed to stop all four en route to a scoreless first half.

Second Half
The second half of the game started much like the first half with no team managing any real scoring threats.

It was not until the 82nd minute that CSS finally broke through. Jonny Harkin (Studley, England/St. Benedicts School) took a pass from teammate Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) and was able to put it past Christ for the goal to put the Saints in front 1-0.

The Saints were then able to keep up the stellar defense for the remaining nine minutes of the game as they completed the shutout of Morris on their way to a 1-0 victory.

Sandy Davidson-Hunt (Kenora, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) stopped both shots on goal for Morris to pick up the win. CSS totaled 12 corner kicks on the day, and did not allow a single corner kick to Morris.
