DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) -- The St. Scholastica men's soccer team held off Gustavus Adolphus College late in the match to gain its 15th victory of the year, winning by a score of 3-2 Sunday afternoon at Saints Field.

The Action
Early on the match had the potential of a convincing CSS win as the Saints scored the first three goals of the game. Jonny Harkin (Studley, England/St. Benedicts School) got the Saints rolling early, scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from Kyle Farrar (London, England/Kelsey Park Sports College), a goal in which Harkin beat the opposing goalkeeper through the five hole.

It wasn't long after that Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) went on to score his fifth goal of the season on a shot over the keeper at 17:20, again assisted by Farrar. Farrar went on to record yet another assist, along with Ryan Flynn (Adelaide, Australia/Modbury HS (Century College)), after a pass to Jonny Winter (Healthfield, England/Healthfield Community College), who scored in the 38th minute on a low shot to put St. Scholastica up by three.

Everything was going right for the Saints until Ian Smith, a substitute for Gustavus, put one by CSS goalkeeper Sandy Davidson-Hunt (Kenora, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) just 15 seconds before the end of the first half.

Still up by a pair coming out of the first, CSS was in good position and continued to keep the opposing keeper busy with eight shots in the second half.

However, the pressure was put back on St. Scholastica when Matt Murakami scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Konnor Tranoris.

Up by just one and with the momentum fully on the side of GAC, Davidson-Hunt needed to be a wall for the Saints, and he was just that. The CSS goalie didn't allow another ball to cross the line, ending the period with six saves, leading his team to victory. Davidson-Hunt ended the game with eight saves total.

St. Scholastica has now won four out of its last five games and picks upm its first non-conference win since defeating the University of St. Thomas on September 20.
