Lumberjacks Best Saints to Take Series

Notables:
-Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season on the power play in the first period.
-Jesse DiLillo made 32 saves for Northland.
-Michael Spring (Kelowna, British Columbia/Okanagan Mission (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) had two assists for CSS.

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's hockey lost 3-2 to Northland College on Saturday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.
 
The Saints and Lumberjacks finished the opening period of play tied at 1-1.
 
Northland stuck first scoring at 6:41 of the first period with Anthony Stempin scoring from Darius Cole and Michael Berens.
 
CSS would answer back with a power-play goal from Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ), his 10th goal of the year, at 9:39 of the period with Dave Williams (Okotoks, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and Michael Spring (Kelowna, British Columbia/Okanagan Mission (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) contributing assists.
 
Derek Sutliffe (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School (Langley Rivermen-BCHL) ) gave the Saints the lead at 7:41 of the second period with his 11th goal of the year from Michael Spring (Kelowna, British Columbia/Okanagan Mission (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) and Brandon Millin (Port Moody, British Columbia/Heritage Woods HS (Notre Dame Hounds-SJHL) ).
 
The Lumberjacks would respond with two goals of their own to close out the second period. Darius Cole tied the game at 2-2 from Ben Owens and Michael Berens at the 8:19 mark. Then Logan Millican gave Northland a 3-2 lead at 10:38 from Matthew Valley.
 
CSS and Northland would play a scoreless third period. St. Scholastica outshot the Lumberjacks 17-to-6 in the period and 34-to-18 overall in the game.
 
Jesse DiLillo made 32 saves for Northland on the night. Connor Lucas (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS ) made 15 saves on 18 shots faced.
 
St. Scholastica travels to De Pere, Wisconsin to take on St. Norbert in a two-game series starting on Friday at 7 p.m.
