ST. PETER, Minn. (csssaints.com) – For the first time in the 43-year history of the St. Scholastica men's hockey program, the Saints skated to a scoreless tie Saturday night at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) had 34 saves for the Saints and John McLean had 39 saves for the Gusties (4-5-6). The Saints outshot the Gusties in the first and third periods, while the Gusties owned the second period.

The best scoring chance for the Saints came when Derek Sutliffe (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School (Langley Rivermen-BCHL) ) hit the pipe midway through the third period.

St. Scholastica was 0-for-5 on the power-play, while the Gusties failed to convert their one opportunity.

The Saints (8-6-1) will return home for the first time since before Thanksgiving next weekend when they host No. 9 Adrian College (Mich.) for a critical Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) two-game set at Mars Lakeview Arena. Friday's contest is set to begin at 7 p.m. and can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
