Championships Web Site | ResultsDELAWARE, Ohio (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica track & field team wrapped up its season at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday with
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) finishing 14th in the decathlon and
Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) 10th in the shot put.
Wagner began day two in the decathlon in 10th place with 3,446 points. In the opening event on Friday, Wagner placed 12th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.91. He finished 12th again in the discus toss with a mark of 112'8" (34.35m).
It was another 12th place finish in the pole vault as he cleared an outdoor personal-best height of 13'5.25" (4.10m). Wagner then placed 11th in the javelin throw with a toss of 142'8" (43.50m). Wagner finished the championships with a 12th place finish in the 1,500m run, posting a time of 4:45.18.
Wagner broke the program record once again in the decathlon with a point total of 6,526. However, that point total was only good enough for 14th place overall. The top eight spots earn All-America accolades.
Coming off her All-American performance in the hammer throw yesterday, Huberty competed in the shot put today. Huberty came in with the 19th best mark in that event this season. She would not foul on any of her three attempts with her best attempt coming on her second throw with a mark of 44'4" (13.51m).
That mark tied for ninth place with the top nine advancing to the finals. However, her second-best mark was not as good as the competitor she was tied with, so she did not advance to the finals and finished 10th overall.
Huberty finishes her career as a Saint as a three-time NCAA Division III All-American. She was a two-time All-American in the hammer throw and an All-American in the shot put during the indoor season this year. She is the first Saint to earn All-America honors in the indoor and outdoor season in same academic year.
