DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica track & field had two athletes improve on their marks in the last three days at last chance meets to put themselves in position to qualify for next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.

North Central Gregory Multi's (Results)
Sophomore Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) was looking to qualify for his second straight NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in the decathlon on Tuesday and Wednesday at North Central College (Ill.).

He did so in a big way, breaking his own program record with 6,479 points to win the event. That point total puts him currently at 11th best in NCAA Division III and will likely get him into next week's NCAA Outdoor Championships.

On day one, Wagner finished no lower than fourth in each of the first five events. He had a season-best mark in the shot put at 38'11.5" (11.87m). He also had a personal-best outdoor high jump mark of 6'1.25" (1.86m). After day one he had accumulated 3,395 points.

On day two, Wagner began by setting a personal record in the 110m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 15.49. He then set another personal record in the discus toss with a mark of 114'4" (34.84m) and placed second.

After placing third in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12'10.25" (3.92m), he moved on to the javelin throw where he set another personal best, clearing 147'8" (45.00m). Wagner closed the decathlon with another second place finish in the 1,500m run, posting a time of 4:49.28.

It was unfavorable conditions Thursday at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Qualifier with below average temperatures.

Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) won the hammer throw with a mark of 186'0" (56.70m). Huberty was also sixth in the shot put with a toss of 42'8.25" (13.01m). Huberty is solidly in the field in the hammer throw, but still hanging on in the shot put and will be competing Friday at Augustana.

Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) also won the high jump, clearing 5'5.25" (1.66m). However, that mark is still just outside the top 22 in Division III and she will have to compete at Augustana on Friday.

Another Saint on the bubble was Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) as he was right at the cut off in 20th in the country in the hammer throw. He would not improve his mark in the hammer and will also be competing at Augustana on Friday.

Amy Campbell (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was fifth in the 400m hurdles posting a time of 1:07.87. Augustana Twilight (Results)
A handful of Saints competed at Rock Island, Illinois on Friday in one final attempt to qualify for the national outdoor championships.

Peterson, who was on the bubble in the hammer throw, set a personal record with a mark of 184'4" (56.19m) to win the event. That mark is currently ranked 15th in the nation and should solidify his spot at the outdoor championships.

Huberty also won the hammer throw on the women's side with a toss of 184'6" (56.23m). She did not compete in the shot put and is still on the bubble to qualify for that event.

Christianson won the high jump, clearing a height of 5'5.25" (1.66m). However, that height still has her on the outside of the top 22 qualifying spots.

Bonasera was fifth in the discus toss with a mark of 131'5" (40.06m). Ludwig was seventh in that event at 128'11" (39.29m).
