ResultsMORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – In its first outdoors match in Minnesota for the year, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated the University of Minnesota Morris 8-1 on Sunday.
The Saints won all three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) had the tightest contest, winning 8-6. The No. 2 tandem of
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and
Alexa Herbst (Foley, Minn. /Foley HS) won 8-0. Finally, the No. 3 team of
Allie Carlson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) and
Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) won 8-1 for their fourth straight victory.
CSS then won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets. Scanlan won at the No. 2 spot 6-3, 7-5. Solberg at No. 3 and Ochrymowicz at No. 4 both won by 6-2, 6-2 scores. For Ochrymowicz it was her fifth straight win.
Pamela Hartley (Lima, Peru/Franklin Roosevelt College) blanked her opponent at No. 5 and
Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) at No. 6 was the final winner on the day by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
The Saints (10-6, 3-1 UMAC) will be at home on Tuesday when they face Martin Luther College in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
