PREVIEW: Women's Tennis Faces Test at Northwestern

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team will put its conference streak on the line on Saturday when it travels to face the University of Northwestern. Action is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Lakeville Lifetime Fitness.

-The Saints are riding a four-match winning streak and have only lost one individual match during that stretch.
-CSS has never lost a UMAC dual match in program history with a record of 113-0.
-The Saints are 55-29 in singles play and 32-10 in doubles action this year.
-Freshman Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) leads the team with 11 singles wins, including eight straight victories.
-Another freshman, Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS), is second on the team with 10 wins.
-Junior Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) is 5-6 at the No. 1 singles spot.
-Gunderson and Solberg are 10-3 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
-Scanlan and Alexa Herbst (Foley, Minn. /Foley HS) are 8-2 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
-The Saints and Eagles were picked t share the conference title this season, according to the preseason coaches' poll.

University of Northwestern Eagles

-This will be the conference opener for the Eagles.
-Northwestern is 3-3 in its last six matches, but are coming off an 8-1 victory over Concordia College-Moorhead.
-The Eagles are 3-0 against Bethel, Hamline and Concordia this season, while the Saints are 2-1. The Eagles are 21-6 in matches against those teams, while the Saints were 20-7.
-Northwestern is 30-30 in singles play and 17-13 in doubles action.
-Karen Moe leads the team with seven singles wins at the No. 2 spot.
-Megan Johnson is 6-4 on the No. 1 singles spot.
-Kelly Johnson and Megan Johnson are 6-4 at the No. 1 doubles spot.
-Moe and Tina Matetich are 7-3 at the No. 2 doubles position.
