Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team managed only 15 shots on net in a 3-0 loss to No. 1-ranked St. Norbert College Friday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.
In a highly-physical contest, the Green Knights struck for their first goal when Joe Perry found the back of the net with 6:39 left in the opening period. The Saints were out-shot 14-4 in the period.
CSS would kill off a five-minute major penalty in the second period, but St. Norbert would strike on a later power-play when Michael Hill scored to make it 2-0 at the second intermission.
The Green Knights put it away in the third as Tyler Zepeda scored another power-play goal eight minutes in to make the final score 3-0.
The Saints were out-shot 37-15 for the game.
Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) had 34 saves in the loss for St. Scholastica. David Jacobson had 15 saves for the shutout.
The Saints (12-6-4, 9-3-3 NCHA) and Green Knights (18-3-1, 13-2-0 NCHA) wrap up the series tomorrow at 4 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena. Catch the action live on Saints Sports Net.
