DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Concordia College-Moorhead 9-0 on Sunday at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
The No. 1 doubles team of
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) won 8-2. Following suit was
Pamela Hartley (Lima, Peru/Franklin Roosevelt College) and
Allie Carlson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) at the No. 3 spot. CSS's No. 2 team of
Madeleine Scanlan (St. Albans, England /Loreto College) and
Alexa Herbst (Foley, Minn. /Foley HS) beat Concordia 8-3.
On the singles side, the Saints won all of their matches in straight sets. In the No. 1 spot Gunderson cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Solberg came out on top 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 spot.
Scanlan's score was 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 spot. In the No. 4 spot
Aleksandra Ochrymowicz (Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Mary’s Academy) won 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 5 spot Hartley was victorious 6-0, 6-2. Finally
Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6 spot.
Up next the Saints (3-1) will travel to Rochester, Minn. on Sunday to take on the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse at 2:30 p.m.
