PREVIEW: Women's Tennis Gets Back to Action Sunday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team will be back in action at the Arrowhead Tennis Center on Sunday when it hosts Concordia College-Moorhead. The dual match is scheduled to begin at noon. 

St. Scholastica Saints
Record:
 2-1 (0-0 UMAC)
Head Coach: Wells Patten
- The Saints are coming off a 5-4 loss two Saturdays ago against Bethel. The loss snapped a 13-match winning streak, which was tied for the second longest streak in program history.
-Freshman Jessica Solberg (Bemidji, Minn. /Bemidji HS) had a successful start to her collegiate career as she went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles action.
-Solberg was named the UMAC Women's Player of the Week for her achievement.
-Sophomore Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) also went 3-0 in singles action to open the season, winner her matches at the No. 5 flight.
-CSS did not drop a single match at the No. 1 or No. 2 doubles flights the opening weekend.
-Last week, the Saints were predicted to share the UMAC title with the University of Northwestern, according to the preseason coaches' poll. The Saints have never lost a UMAC match.

Concordia College-Moorhead
Record: 0-1 (0-1 MIAC)
Head Coach: Steve Futchko
-The Cobbers dropped their season-opener to Hamline 7-2 last weekend.
-Concordia went winless last season with a 0-16 record.
-This season the Cobbers are led by first-year head coach Steve Futchko.
-Junior Kaitlyn Davies returns after leading the team in singles wins a season ago.
-Sophomore Morgan Sawatzke is also back after finishing second on the team in wins in 2013.
-The Cobbers will play St. Cloud State in Saturday, before facing the Saints.
Series History: (CSS is 3-4 vs. Concordia)
-The Saints have won three of the last four meetings against the Cobbers, including a 9-0 win last season.
