DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team will be at home for the final time during the regular season this weekend when it hosts Crown College on Friday and a showdown with the University of Minnesota Morris for Senior Day Saturday.

St. Scholastica Saints

-The Saints look to rebound from a turnover-haunted 58-52 loss at Martin Luther on Saturday. CSS committed 27 turnovers, the second-most of any team in a UMAC game this season.
-Last weekend the Saints made only four 3-pointers in the two games combined, which is the fewest in back-to-back games this year.
-Captains
Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) and
Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) have been playing well as of late for CSS. Hovick has averaged 16.4 points on 74 percent shooting in her last five games, and Frase poured in a career high 26 points in a close win over Bethany Lutheran last Friday.
-Hovick is currently third in the UMAC with a 48.2 field goal percentage, and Frase is fourth with 47.6 percent.
-
Kelsey Sorenson-Giffrow (Braham, Minn./Braham HS (Minn. Duluth)) and
Elena Huber (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) have shot the ball well this season. Sorenson leads the UMAC at 42 percent from beyond the arc, while Huber is third with 38.5 percent. Sorenson also leads the conference with a 91.7 free throw percentage.
-St. Scholastica has been efficient offensively, shooting a conference-best 45.5 percent from the field and limiting opponents to 33.6 percent shooting on the year, good for second in the conference.
-The Saints are currently tied for second in the UMAC with Martin Luther. Minnesota Morris currently is atop the standings with a 9-1 conference record.
-The Saints will honor seniors Frase and
Caitlin McKernon (Coon Rapids, Minn./Fridley HS) on Saturday.

Crown College Storm
Record: 1-18 (0-9 UMAC)

-Crown enters the weekend winless in conference play. Crown is currently riding a 10-game losing streak with its lone win coming against Finlandia at home at the beginning of December.
-The Storm have struggled to shoot and rebound the ball this year, shooting just 29.3 percent from the field and grabbing 35.3 boards per contest.
-Freshmen have led the way for Crown this season, as the top four scorers for the Storm are first-year players.
-Crown has struggled to keep pace with other squads this season, averaging 49.8 points while giving up 85.2 points per game.
-Crown is coached by interim head coach Luke Herbert, who has coached the men's team for the past three years.

University of Minnesota Morris Cougars
Record: 12-9 (9-1 UMAC)

-The Cougars look to keep its six-game winning streak alive on the road this weekend, taking on Northland College on Friday before facing CSS on Saturday.
-Morris has been on a tear offensively. On its winning streak, Morris has averaged 82 points per game, while allowing just under 55 points to opponents.
-The last five wins on their current six-game winning streak have come at home. Morris has had difficulties on the road this season, as six of nine losses have come away from home.
-The Cougars have struggled shooting the ball from distance (26.4 percent), but lead the conference in rebounding (45.8 per contest) and points allowed per game (62.4).
-Emily Auch has been solid for the Cougars, averaging 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds on 58.4 percent shooting from the field. Kendra Wycoff and Brooke Decker have also played well, averaging 13.2 and 9.2 points per game, respectively.
