Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team defeated the LumberJacks of Northland College Saturday night scoring at least one goal in each of the three periods with two in the second and the third.

Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) got the scoring started at the 3:33 mark in the first period after taking a pass from Matt Malenstyn (Surrey, British Columbia/Tamanawis Secondary (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and putting it past Northland goalie Mason Riley.  Alex Valenti (Blaine, Wash./Bellingham HS (Merritt-BCHL) ) also got an assist on the play. For Valenti, it was his fifth assist in the last two days.

The first of the two second period goals was scored by Bobby Lipsett (Salmon Arm, British Columbia/Salmon Arm Secondary (Salmon Arm-BCHL) ) with assists from Steven Phee (Balzac, Alberta/George McDougall HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) and Malenstyn again.  That goal was scored with eight minutes left in the period.

The second goal of the period was scored by Derek Sutliffe (Las Vegas, Nev./Odyssey Charter School (Langley Rivermen-BCHL) ) near the end of the period with just 2:03 remaining in the period.  Keegan Bruce (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham HS (Weyburn-SJHL) ) and Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) got credited for the assists on the play.

In the third period Paul Marcoux (Brandon, Manitoba /Vincent Massey Collegiate (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and Chad Golanowski (Calgary, Alberta/Bishop Carroll HS (Calgary Canucks-AJHL) ) scored goals just 2:15 apart from each other with both coming in the first five minutes of the period.  Michael Spring (Kelowna, British Columbia/Okanagan Mission (Chilliwack-BCHL) ) and Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)) got the assists for the first goal, while Dave Williams (Okotoks, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) got the assist for the second.

The third period also saw the first collegiate appearance of goaltender Connor Lucas (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS ). Lucas, a junior from Hermantown, saw five shots and stopped five shots, including one on a breakaway to preserve the shutout.

The Jacks managed just 23 shots on goal, all of which were stopped by Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) who had 18 in the first two periods, and Lucas in the third. Bruggeman earned the win for CSS.

The Saints also clinched a NCHA Harris Cup playoff spot this weekend. CSS needs only one more point in the final four games to clinch a home first round playoff series.
