DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – No.12 St. Scholastica men's hockey suffered its second loss of the season Friday night 1-0 to Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) rival Lake Forest College.
Jason McAloon scored the only goal of the game for Lake Forest at 4:25 of the second period. The goal was McAloon's second of the season.
St. Scholastica out shot the Foresters 11 to nine in the first period.
The Saints were able to draw two power plays in the second period but were unable to convert on either. CSS recorded 17 shots in the period.
In the third period the Saints could not capitalize on a huge opportunity to even up the score. CSS was awarded a five-minute man-advantage but they were unable to find the back of the net.
Justin Krabben (Rocky Mountain House, Alberta/Hunting Hills HS (Canmore-AJHL) ) and
Dylan Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Centennial HS (Brooks-AJHL) ) tied for the team lead in shots with five apiece for St. Scholastica.
Leo Podolsky recorded the shutout for LFC making 36 saves. Podolsky leads the NCHA in save percentage (.949) and is second in goals-against average (1.68).
Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) made 29 saves for St. Scholastica in the loss.
The Saints will finish their series against Lake Forest College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
