RESULTS

ISHPEMING, Mich. (csssaints.com) - Junior Joe Dubay (Coon Rapids, Minn./Andover HS) led the St. Scholastica men's skiing team in its season opener at the Northern Michigan University Wildcat Invitational, finishing eighth with a time of 24:13.7.

The race was dominated by the host Wildcats taking  the top four spots, sixth, and seventh. 2014 NCAA All-American Kyle Bratrud won in a time of 22:40.4, besting the 2012 NCAA Champion in the 10km Freestyle, Erik Soderman, by 4.7 seconds, in 22:45.2. Adam Martin rounded out the podium and Wildcat perfect score in a time of 22:56.0

CSS sophomore Reitler Hodgert (Bend, Ore./Summit HS ) cracked the top 10 in a time of 24:32.6, while senior Nick Power (Duluth, Minn./Marshall School) rounded out the Saints scoring in 12th in a time 25:19.3.  The Saints finished third of the 3 teams present, behind NMU and Michigan Tech on the day.

"It was a sound start to our season," said a satisfied head coach Chad Salmela. "We like to come into December just like this; maybe a little under-ready to perform at our best, but good enough to be within striking distance. That pretty much describes today for us."

The Saints continue competition Sunday in Ishpeming with at 15km classic pursuit start, in which each athlete starts behind Saturday's winner by the time they finished behind the winner in Saturday's event.
