PREVIEW: Men's Hockey to Face Lawrence this Weekend

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The 15th-ranked St. Scholastica men's hockey team will travel this weekend to Appleton, Wis. for a two-game Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) series against Lawrence University.

- The Saints are coming off a 0-1-1 weekend at No. 1 Adrian last weekend, which saw both games go to overtime.
- CSS has played in four straight overtime games (1-1-2), which is the first known time that has happened in program history.
- CSS's combined special teams are ranked third in the nation with a 58 percent success rate.
- Brandon Nowakowski (Calgary, Alberta/Central Memorial HS (Calgary Royals-AJHL)) is tied for fourth in conference for points (14) and tied for first in power play goals (4) in league games.
- Matt Malenstyn (Surrey, British Columbia/Tamanawis Secondary (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) is tied for fourth in the NCHA among defenseman with eight points in league games.
- Dave Williams (Okotoks, Alberta/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Waywayseecappo-MJHL) ) and Alex Valenti (Blaine, Wash./Bellingham HS (Merritt-BCHL) ) have recorded a point in three of the last four games.
- Goaltender Tyler Bruggeman (North Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS (Austin-NAHL) ) is fifth for goals against average (1.64) and fourth for save percentage (.938) in league games.

Lawrence University Vikings
Record: 4-12-1 (3-7-0 NCHA)

- The Vikings have not won in the last six games.  Last weekend the Vikings lost its series 1-0 and 4-1 against MSOE.
- Lawrence leads the conference with 320 penalty minutes.
- They are eighth out of 10 teams with just 39 goals this year and have allowed the second-most goals in the NCHA at 74.
- Blake Roubos leads the team with seven goals and 16 points.
- Goaltender Aton Olsson holds a .893 saves percentage and a 4.27 goals against average.
Series History: (CSS is 7-1-1 vs. Lawrence)
- Saints won the last two games against Lawrence, neither of which took place in Appleton or Duluth.
- CSS's only loss took place in 2010 by a score of 4-2 in Appleton. The Saints are 1-1 all-time on Lawrence's home ice.
