Box Score ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team picked up a road victory Saturday night as it downed Crown College 82-45 with five Saints players scoring in double figures.
It was all CSS right from the get go as the Saints jumped out to a 16-0 lead holding Crown to no points in the first 5:46, when they allowed a free throw making the score 16-1.
The next Crown score would not come until there was just over 10 minutes left in the first half, and by that point the Saints had built a big lead at 25-3.
The first half would end at 49-14 with CSS on top behind eight first half points from
Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) and seven by teammate
Sammy Doucette (Colfax, Wis./Colfax HS (UW-River Falls)).
The second half saw a more even keeled game with the Saints maintaining their 30-plus point lead and even building it as high as 44 points when Frase drained a 3-pointer to make the score 73-29.
After the made jumper the Saints again went about maintaining their lead and as the final buzzer sounded the Saints found themselves on the winning end of an 82-45 victory.
Frase led all scorers with 14 points while Doucette came in with 12.
Danica Schellbach (Rush City, Minn./Rush City HS) recorded 11 points and
Brittani Brennan (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS), along with
Kayla Swanson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), recorded 10. The Saints bench continued to impress outscoring the bench of Crown 46-11.
