Saints Battle Knights To A Tie

| By:
Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com)- The St. Scholastica men's soccer team fought through a double-overtime game with the Carleton Knights with no victor coming out in a 0-0 tie at a rainy Saints Field today.

The play in the first half was fairly even as the shots were tied at 3-3 going into halftime. Carleton had the advantage with corner kicks with a 4-2 count.

The Saints had a chance early in the second half as a Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) shot slipped through the hands of the Knight goalie before he recovered and handled the ball cleanly. The game was back and forth for the rest of the half until the Carleton offense had a surge with a couple opportunities late in the game, but the Saints defense held strong to keep the score knotted up.

The first overtime was relatively quiet as there was only one shot which was registered by the Knights.

The second overtime saw a couple good opportunities for the Saints to win the game with shots by Watt and Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) just going wide of the net.

At the end of the game the shots were at 10-9 in a slight favor to the Knights who also had a 7-2 edge on corner kicks. Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) made 5 saves for the Saints as James Neher had 4 saves for the Knights.

The Saints get a little break from games as their next one will be this coming Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul against Macalester.
