Men’s Soccer Defeats Cougars in Overtime

Box Score MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated the University of Minnesota Morris in overtime by a score of 2-1 on Saturday.

The Cougars would get on the board first, with Ebrima Badgie hitting the back of the net at 8:41 to put the Cougars up 1-0.

CSS rallied back with Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) tallying in the 31st minute, and Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) adding the assist. Shots were 5-3 in favor of the Saints heading into the second half.

The Saints would outshoot the Cougars 7-0 in the second half, but were unable to convert. The game would enter overtime tied up at 1-1.

Just under six minutes into overtime, Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) would net his fifth of the year to give the Saints the 2-1 victory.

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) faced three shots to capture the win, while the Saints put 17 shots the Cougars (2-6, 1-1 UMAC) way.

CSS (4-2-2, 3-0 UMAC) will look to stay undefeated in UMAC play at home when they face North Central on Friday at 2 p.m. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
