Box Score ASHLAND, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated the Northland Lumberjacks by a score of 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in their first UMAC contest of the 2013 season.
Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) started off scoring, tallying his first of the season at 11:23 with
Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) and
Ryan Cullen (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) assisting the goal.
Netting his first career goal in the 25th minute was
Shawayne Folkes (Toronto, Ontario/Maxwell Heights), with Watt adding the assist. The Saints outshot Northland 12-0 in the first half.
Watt would hit the back of the net in the 75th minute to complete his four-point day.
Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) was credited with the assist.
Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) made three saves in the contest, while the Saints put 26 shots Northland's way. The Lumberjacks drop to 2-5-0 overall and 0-1-0 in UMAC play, while CSS improves to 2-2-2 overall and are 1-0-0 in the UMAC.
The Saints are back in action Friday, when they look to stay undefeated in UMAC play against Crown. Action is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
