Men’s Track & Field Breaks Two Records at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team won three events, including nine top two finishes at Saturday's St. Norbert College Invite.

Team scores were kept and the Saints were second with 128 points. The host St. Norbert won the meet with 153 points.

Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) won and broke the program record in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:05.31. Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) was runner-up in the 800m run, posting a time of 1:56.79. Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) was second in the 5,000m run finishing in 15:47.16.

Travis Ambuehl (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell HS) won and broke the program record in the pole vault, clearing a height of 14'2” (4.32m). Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) was second in the long jump with a leap of 20'7” (6.27m). Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) was also second in the triple jump with a mark of 42'5.25” (12.93m). Peter Drinkwine (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) and Matt Miller were fourth and fifth, respectively, in that event.

Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) had the top time in the 110m hurdle prelims at 15.70 and also was second in the 400m hurdle finals at 57.40.Samora Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Milwaukee Pius XI (UW-Whitewater)) was sixth in the 200m dash with a time of 22.98 and seventh in the 400m dash at 52.29.

Ryan Murphy (Spooner, Wis./Spooner HS) won the discus with a toss of 142'3” (43.37m). Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) placed third in the shot put with mark of 44'3.25” (13.49m). He was also fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 142'5” (43.41m). Kelin Dunfee (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Central HS) was runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 150'6” (45.89m).

With Tuesday's Twin Ports Open canceled, the Saints will next compete at the Saint Mary's Open on Saturday.
