Women’s Tennis with Another Shut Out Victory

MEQUON, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team blanked Concordia University (Wis.) on Friday by a 9-0 score.

The Saints cruised in a doubles play as the No. 1 team of Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) won 8-1. The No. 2 tandem of Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) and Alexa Herbst (Foley, Minn. /Foley HS) won by the same 8-1 score. The No. 3 team of Allie Carlson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) and Jill Kammerer (St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) were victorious 8-3.

CSS also won all six singles matches in straight sets. Bungarden won at the No. 1 spot 6-3, 6-3. Zwiener won at No. 2 by scores of 6-1, 6-2.At the No. 3 spot, Lawrence came out on top 6-2, 6-0.

Katie Kingston (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) won her first collegiate singles match at No. 4 by scores of 6-0, 6-1. The same goes for Herbst at No. 5 by scores of 6-3, 6-0. Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) was the final winner on the day at the No. 6 spot 6-4, 6-4.

The Falcons (9-3) were playing their first match of the spring season.

The Saints (4-3) will play Edgewood College tomorrow in Madison. Action begins at 7 p.m. at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium.
