FARGO, N.D. (csssaints.com) – For the second time in as many days, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team blanked its opponent, defeating Concordia College-Moorhead 9-0 late Sunday night.
Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) did not drop a single game all night at either No. 1 singles or doubles. She won in singles 6-0, 6-0 and partnered with
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) to win in doubles 8-0. Gunderson won her No. 3 singles match 6-2, 6-0.
The No. 2 doubles team of
Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) and
Kelli Johnson (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) won by an 8-4 score. Zwiener was victorious in her singles match at the No. 2 spot 6-2, 6-1, while Johnson won at the No. 5 spot 6-0, 6-0.
The senior doubles team of
Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) and
Jill Kammerer (St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) at the No. 3 spot won 8-3. Lawrence won at No. 4 singles 6-3, 6-0. The final winner on the night was
Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) at No. 6 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-2.
The Saints (3-1) will be in action next weekend for two matches on Saturday. The first match will be against Division II power Augustana College (S.D.) in Virginia, Minn. That match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The Saints then will face Division III regional power Gustavus Adolphus at 3 p.m. at the Arrowhead Tennis Center.
