DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica football team will be appearing in its third consecutive NCAA Division III playoff game on Saturday and for the second time it will face a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Champion, sixth-ranked Bethel University. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at Royal Stadium.

*The location of the game was changed Wednesday evening to Mall of America Field at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome due to forecasted snow Thursday followed by frigid air Saturday.

-CSS is making its third straight NCAA playoff appearance after capturing the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) title in the final regular season game two weeks ago over Greenville College (Ill.) by a score of 27-21.
-The Saints were on a bye week this past weekend.
-Since losing the season opener to Whitworth, the Saints have rattled off nine straight wins, the second longest win streak in program history.
-Offensively, the Saints are led at the QB position by two-year starter, Tyler Harper (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), who has completed 129 passes for 1,768 yards and 16 touchdowns.  Harper also rushed 60 times for 351 yards and three scores.
-The Saints have out-rushed opponents on the year 2457-1211, an average of 245 rushing yards per game.
-Of the 34 red zone opportunities this season, CSS has converted 29 for touchdowns.
-After breaking the career rushing record on Homecoming, RB Jake Jensen (South St. Paul, Minn./South St. Paul HS) has continued his dominance on the ground accumulating 1,255 yards to finish the regular season to go along with 12 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.
-Jensen finished the regular season the top rusher in the UMAC and was 31st in the nation in rushing yards per game. He needs only 40 more yards to eclipse the 3,000-yard mark for career rushing yards.
-Cory Gebhard (St. Croix Falls, Wis./St. Croix Falls HS) leads the Saints receiving corps, grabbing 40 passes for 747 yards and nine scores.
-Freshman wide receiver Josh Simmons (Houston, Texas/Jack Yates HS) have been instrumental in the passing attack and rushing attack, combining for three scores in the air and two scores on the ground.
-Offensively the Saints are 42 percent on third down attempts and have given up only nine sacks on the year.
-The Saints as a defense are ranked 25th in all of NCAA Division III in total defense, allowing just 284 total yards per game.
-The defense is anchored on the defensive line by ends Blake Cedarleaf (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi HS) and Joe Geiselman (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) who finished the regular season combining for 14.5 sacks, nine pass knockdowns, and 96 tackles.
-Tyler Zurn (Cottage Grove, Minn./Park HS), Paul Olson (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), and Keaton Rush (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) lead the linebacker corps with 206 combined total tackles.  The trio have accounted for 11 of CSS's 37 sacks and have nine combined pass deflections.
-The secondary for the Saints is led by Alec French (Isanti, Minn./St. Francis HS) who leads the defense with 102 tackles, three interceptions, and seven passes defended.  French also has a fumble recovery for touchdown and two blocked kicks on the year.
-Mike LaValley (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) and Jake Turkowski (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) have combined for nine interceptions on the year with four of the picks going back for touchdowns.  Turkowski added 56 tackles with 6.5 going for loss.  LaValley leads the defense with five interceptions and nine passes defended.
-Kicker Mike Theisman finished the regular season going 5-for-11 on field goals, but did hit 41-45 PAT attempts.
-CSS has outscored opponents 190-26 in the second and third quarters combined.
-This will be just the second matchup against a MIAC school for the CSS program. The first was a 48-2 loss to St. Thomas in the 2011 NCAA Playoffs.
-The Saints have played four games all-time at the Metrodome as part of what used to be UMAC Dome Day. CSS last played at the facility in October of 2011, which resulted in a 70-20 victory over Presentation College (S.D.). The Saints are 2-2 all-time at the Metrodome.

#6 Bethel University Royals
Record: 10-0, 8-0 MIAC
Head Coach: Steve Johnson (25th Season)
-Bethel completed its second undefeated regular season in program history last Saturday with a 28-7 win over Saint John's University.
-This will be the eighth playoff appearance for Bethel in the past 14 years.
-The Royals captured their fifth MIAC regular season championship in program history in the second-to-last week of the regular season.
-The Royals played six teams over .500, including four regionally-ranked squads.
-Since defeating St. Thomas 28-21 on October 19th, Bethel has been at least three touchdowns better than each of its last four opponents.
-Offensively, Bethel is led by QB Erik Peterson who has thrown for 2,495 yards and 19 scores, while adding six scores on the ground.
-RB Brandon Marquardt has rushed 136 times this season, accumulating 958 yards and 13 touchdowns.  Marshall Klitzke has added seven scores on the ground to compliment Marquardt.
-The Royals averaged a MIAC-best 5.3 yards/rush.
-WR Mitch Hallstrom broke the 1,000 yard mark in the SJU game and finished the regular season with 69 catches and 1,030 total yards to go along with seven scores. He also secured the all-time record at Bethel for career receptions last weekend.
-The rest of the Royals' receiving corps has combined for 12 touchdowns and over 1,300 yards.
-As an offense, Bethel averages 41.0 points per game and finished the regular season with 1,991 rushing yards and 2,598 passing yards, good enough for 459 yards per game.
-The Royals are 10-for-16 on fourth down conversions.
-Defensively, the Royals hold opponents to 305 yards per game.
-Seth Mathis leads the defense with 105 total tackles and has four interceptions and six pass break-ups on the year.
-Landon Mathis, Kevin Flaherty, and Luke Buttenhoff have combined for 180 tackles, eight sacks, and 12 pass break-ups.
-The Royals have 18 interceptions on the year and 49 total pass break-ups, while holding opponents to 35-percent conversion on third down.
-Bethel has punted just 32 times on the year, averaging 33 yards per punt.
Series History: (CSS is 0-0 vs. Bethel)
This will be the first ever meeting between the two schools. In the 2012 NCAA DIII playoffs, both teams were defeated by national semifinalist UW-Oshkosh with CSS losing in the first round and Bethel losing in the second round.
