Saints Topple Eagles

Box Score ST. PAUL (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated the University of Northwestern 4-0 on Friday for another road victory. 

The lone goal of the first half was scored in the sixth minute by Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS).  He was assisted by Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) and Antony Blackburn (Derby, England/John Port School).

The Saints outshot the Eagles 7-3 in the first half.  Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) had two saves, while Shane Coleman of the Eagles had three.

In the 59th minute, Jenkins recorded his second goal of the game, assisted by Watt and Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School).  Jenkins leads the NCAA Division III for goals (20) and Watt leads the nation for assists (21). All 20 of Jenkins' goals have come in conference play.

Tom Corcoran (Warrington, England/Great Sankey HS, Priestley College) scored in the 81st minute, assisted by Caleb Yurek (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) and Morgan.  Corcoran is second in the UMAC for goals with 15.

Two minutes later, Watt scored the last goal of the game on a penalty kick to make the final score 4-0.

As of Friday, Watt, Jenkins, Corcoran, and Morgan are the top four leaders for points in the UMAC.

Hewitt did not have to make a save in the second half as Northwestern was unable to get any shots against the Saints.

The Saints (10-2-2 overall, 9-0 UMAC) will stay on the road for Saturday's 2:15 p.m. game against North Central University (1-9-2 overall, 0-8-1 UMAC).
