Frase’s Second Straight Double-Double Propels Saints Past North Central

Box Score MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team saw Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) record her second consecutive double-double to help the Saints in victory over the overmatched North Central University Rams by a score of 76-54 Saturday afternoon.

The first half saw the Saints jump out to a quick 4-0 lead with two Frase baskets.  CSS would get a 9-2 advantage four minutes into the contest off of an Elena Huber (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) 3-pointer.  NCU was able to tie the game at the 13:28 mark but the Saints would hold the lead by four or five points after the tie for the remainder of the half and would take a 34-28 lead into the break.

The second half was completely dominated by the Saints as they would jump out to a lead by as much as 28 points.  The Rams would never significantly chip into the large deficit and the Saints would march to a 76-54 victory in front of about 100 spectators.

North Central (4-12, 1-6 UMAC) was led by Shelby Norman with 15 points.  Jamie High added 14 points and nine rebounds as well.

The Rams would finish the game shooting 32-percent from the field, 25-percent from beyond the arc, and 61-percent from the free-throw line.  NCU would commit 15turnovers and never held the lead at any point in the game.

CSS was led by Erin Frase (Phillips, Wis./Phillips HS (UW-River Falls)) with 19 points and 10 rebounds.  It was Frase's second consecutive double-double where she had 20 points and 11 rebounds the night before against Northwestern College.  Mariah Hovick (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) chipped in 14 points and eight rebounds, just two shy of her own double-double.  Danica Schellbach (Rush City, Minn./Rush City HS) added 10 points and seven rebounds as well for the Saints.

The Saints would finish the game shooting 50-percent from the field, 28-percent from beyond the arc, and 63-percent from the charity stripe. 

CSS would out-rebound the Rams 49-33, but did commit 21 turnovers.

St. Scholastica (7-11, 4-3 UMAC) will host Northland College this coming Tuesday at the Reif Gymnasium.  CSS will look to avenge the loss to the LumberJills earlier in the season.  Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and the game can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
