Men’s Soccer Finishes First Half of UMAC Play Unbeaten

Jenkins Records Second Hat Trick of the Season

Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team kept things rolling on Saturday afternoon, defeating Martin Luther College 6-0 at Saints Field.

The Saints got their first tally of the contest four minutes and eight seconds into the game as Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) scored his first of the day. Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) had the assist. Jenkins scored again in the 17th minute with assists coming from Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) and Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College).

CSS would go into halftime with a 3-0 lead after Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) converted his second penalty kick on the season in the 43rd minute.

Watt scored his sixth goal of the season the more conventional way in the 69th minute as he was assisted by Ben Cullen (Clough, Northern Ireland/Shimna Integrated College) and goalkeeper Bryan Nyberg (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS).

Jenkins completed the hat trick in the 72nd minute to make it 5-0. For Jenkins, it was his second hat trick of the season and his sixth goal in the last three games. Ben Cullen (Clough, Northern Ireland/Shimna Integrated College) culminated the scoring with seven minutes left getting an assist from Shay Rabbers (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) to make the final 6-0.

Nyberg did not have to make any saves to earn his first collegiate victory. Eric Hahn made 13 saves in the loss for the Knights (2-8-0, 1-5-0 UMAC). The Saints outshot the Knights 34-2 in the contest.

The Saints (9-2-0, 7-0-0 UMAC) will be at Northland College next Saturday to begin the second half of conference action. Play is scheduled to begin at noon.
