Six Saints Score to Down Vikings

Box Score DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team continued its offensive surge against the Bethany Lutheran Vikings as six players scored in the contest earning a 7-0 win at Saints Field on Friday.

The first minute would not even elapse before the Saints put one on the board as Caleb Yurek (Northfield, Minn./Northfield HS) converted on a corner kick from Joe Watt (London, England/North West Kent College) 36 seconds in. The goal was Yurek's first of the season.

Erik Trochimchuk (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold HS) had two back-to-back goals in the match, hitting the back of the net in the 12th and 22st minutes, respectively.  The two goals place Trochimchuk second in the UMAC for both goals (8) and points (21).

Watt then tallied his fourth goal of the season in the 31st minute, Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) getting credited with the assist. Watt would finish the day with a goal and two assists.

Shay Rabbers (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) put the Saints up 5-0 to end the first half, scoring at 44:09.  The shots after the first 45 minutes were 10-3 for St. Scholastica.

The second half would see Andrew Jenkins (Cardiff, Wales/Whitchurch HS) score his UMAC leading 10th goal of the season, hitting the back of the net at 70:14. Ethan Walpole (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) would close out scoring, tallying his first career goal in the 85th minute. Rabbers and Adam Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS) assisted the goal.

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) earned his fourth shutout of the season, saving two on the way to the win. Viking keeper Noah Heidorn faced 28 shots in the contest, and made seven saves for the loss.

CSS remains undefeated in UMAC play with a record of 6-0-0, with an overall record of 8-2-0. The Vikings fall to 2-3-0 in the UMAC and are 3-7-0 overall.

The Saints will face Martin Luther tomorrow for their next action. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. at Saints Field. All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
