Men's Soccer Tops North Central with Strong Second Half

Box Score COON RAPIDS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team broke through in the second half scoring all three goals in the last 40 minutes on its way to a 3-0 victory over North Central University on Thursday.

In the first half, CSS out shot North Central 19-5, however; the game would remain scoreless for the first 45 minutes. CSS would out shoot the Rams 48-7 overall.

Sean Morgan (Belfast, Ireland/St. Patrick’s Grammar School) ignited the scoring for CSS in the second half, as he would hit the back of the net at 51:14, with Rob Johnson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) assisting the goal. Then in the 55th minute, Erik Trochimchuk (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Hammarskjold HS) netted his fifth goal of the season putting the Saints up by two. Shay Rabbers (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) would close out scoring in the 82nd minute, scoring his first collegiate goal while playing in his first collegiate game.

Adam Hewitt (Richmond Hill, Ontario/St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic HS) would earn his second shutout of the season with the win, facing seven shots and making five saves on the day.  Rams goalie Nathan Kraines would have 48 shots thrown at him, saving 13 in the contest.

The Saints improve their record to 6-2-0 overall and 4-0-0 in the UMAC.  North Central drops to 2-5-1 overall and are 1-2-0 in UMAC play.

The Saints will face Northwestern College on Saturday, kickoff is is set for 2:30 p.m. at Saints Field.  All of the action can be seen live on Saints Sports Net.
