DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team will look to capture its 16th straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament title this weekend at the Baseline Tennis Center.
UMAC Tournament Changes
If you recall in the past, the UMAC Tournament champion was determined by the total number of points accumulated by a school based on a flighted tournament. This season will be a team tournament and it will be straight up dual matches to determine the champion.

The Eagles come into the tournament winners of three of their last four matches … However, in the second half of the conference season, Northwestern did not shutout a single conference opponent and in addition to falling to CSS, the Eagles narrowly escaped Minnesota Morris 5-4 … The Eagles have won 73 singles matches, but are below .500 in doubles play with a 32-27 record … Rachel Smith leads the team with 13 singles wins, while Megan Johnson has a team-high 11 doubles victories.

The Saints swept the Eagles in the two matches this season. The Saints won the first in Fridley 6-3 and last weekend 8-1.
No. 3 seed-Minnesota Morris Cougars (6-6, 6-4 UMAC)
The only conference losses this season for the Cougars have come against CSS and Northwestern … Morris gave Northwestern all it could handle the last time out, dropping a close match 5-4 in Morris … Abby Fragodt leads the team with 10 singles victories and has won three consecutive UMAC Player of the Week awards … Fragodt also leads the team with eight doubles wins.
