La Crosse Qualifier Results
DULUTH, Minn. – Members of the St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams competed at a pair of qualifiers the past two nights, competing in the La Crosse Qualifier on Thursday and the UW-Oshkosh Final Qualifier on Friday.
Rachel Miller (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) would be the only Saint to improve her mark in the two meets. At Friday's Oshkosh meet Miller had a program record leap of 38'6” (11.73m) in the triple jump. That put her tied for 21st in NCAA Division III this season. However with only 22 qualifying and other last chance meets going on across the country, Miller is on the proverbial bubble.
Other notables from Friday include
Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) who was sixth in the shot put with a toss of 42'3.25” (12.88m).
Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) was seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 181'4” (55.27m). Friday also saw the final meets for seniors
John Howard (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) and
Katie Walrath (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS).
On Thursday night in La Crosse, no Saint would better their season-best time/mark on the year.
Alec Seeley (Cadott, Wis./Cadott HS) was third in the hammer throw with a distance of 164'1” (50.02m).
Danielle Dickson (Roseville, Minn./Totino Grace HS/Roseville HS) placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 17'2.75” (5.25m).
As of this release, Seeley is solidly in the field for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field championships next week in Claremont, Calif. Seeley is 12th in the hammer throw.
Tracy Perish (Browerville, Minn./Browerville HS) is also in good position in the heptathlon in 17th. Lyscio is in decent position in 18th in the hammer throw, but only the top 20 men qualify. Along with Miller, Huberty will have to wait it out as she is right on the women's cut in 22nd in the hammer throw.
