DES MOINES, Iowa – Members of the St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field team competed at the 103rd Drake Relays and the Kip Janvrin Open over the last few days, breaking a pair of program records in the process.

At the prestigious Drake Relays, the Saints did not compete until Friday as Tracy Perish (Browerville, Minn./Browerville HS), who was supposed to compete in the heptathlon Wednesday and Thursday was scratched due to illness. That meant the women's 4x100-meter relay team of Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS), Laurel Ohaju (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS), Rachel Thelen (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) and Maggie Bair (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) kicked things off with a time of 49.18 seconds.

The women's distance medley of Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS), Ohaju, Kayla Roberge (Burnsville, Minn./Academy of Holy Angels) and Chelsea Johnson (North Branch, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) was next up and they posted a school record time of 12:51.17.

The men's 4x200-meter relay team of Sherome Milon (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS), Ryan Guentzel (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) and Addison Griffin (Superior, Wis./Superior HS (UW-River Falls)) came out in the afternoon and broke the program record with a time of 1:31.06.

That was it for the Drake Relays for the day on Friday so the Saints then went over and competed at the Kip Janvrin Open, hosted by Simpson College.

CSS had eight participants at the Kip Janvrin Open with the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Milon, Hanson, Guentzel and Griffin placing fourth with a time of 43.97 seconds.

Moving on to Saturday morning, the only team competing was the women's sprint medley relay team consisting of Thelen, Ohaju, Buske and Roberge. They would post a time of 4:20.26 seconds.
