WINONA, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team competed at the Saint Mary's Open on Saturday.
The Saints were led mostly by their field athletes as some of the top runners on the team were at the Drake Relays.
Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) led the way by finishing second in the hammer throw with a distance of 176'8” (53.86m). The mark was not better than last week's throw, but Lyscio still ranks 12th in NCAA Division III this season.
Peter Drinkwine (Superior, Wis./Superior HS) was third in the triple jump with a mark of 38'4.25” (11.69m).
John Howard (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) was sixth in the discus with a toss of 148'2” (45.16m).
Justin Mann (Bigfork, Minn./Bigfork HS (Itasca Community College)) placed 10th in the shot put with a distance of 40'11.75” (12.49m).
In running events,
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) broke the program record and was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:17.86.
Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)) placed 10th in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:24.35.
The Saints will be in action next Saturday when they compete in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships in Morris, Minn. Action is scheduled to begin at noon.
