DE PERE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team won the St. Norbert Invitational on Saturday, edging the host, St. Norbert College, by two points in the 11-team event.
The Saints won with 183 points with St. Norbert finishing with 181 points. Ripon College was third with 94 points and Wisconsin Lutheran College was fourth with 75 points.
The Saints won five events on the day. The 4x100-meter relay team were the lone tracksters to win as the team of
Rachel Thelen (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS),
Laurel Ohaju (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS),
Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) and
Maggie Bair (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) won with a time of 49.61 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Ohaju, Buske,
Nikki Hughes (Lake Nebagamon, Wis./Northwestern HS) and
Eleanor Magnuson (Champlin Park, Minn./Champlin Park HS) were second with a time of 4:06.47. Ohaju would place second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.71 seconds and Buske was third at 60.70 seconds. Magnuson was fourth in the 800-meter run, posting a time of 2:26.76.
Rachel Thelen (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) was second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.16 seconds.
Chelsea Johnson (North Branch, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:01.46.
Brea Durovec (Meadowlands, Minn./Floodwood HS) was fourth in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles. In the 100 hurdles she had a time of 16.75 seconds and in the 400 a time of 1:09.20 seconds.
In field events,
Rachel Miller (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) came out on top in the triple jump with a mark of 35'7.75” (10.86m).
Katie Walrath (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) was first in the discus with a toss of 121'6” (37.04m). Walrath was also second in the javelin with a mark of 102'1” (31.12m).
Bre Lohn (Benson, Minn./Benson HS) was third in javelin with a throw of 94'0” (28.65m).
Alec Seeley (Cadott, Wis./Cadott HS) and
Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) continued to dual it out this weekend as Seeley won the hammer throw with a distance of 165'1” (50.32m), while Huberty won the shot put with a distance of 39'9.25” (12.12m). Seeley was runner-up in the shot put at 39'5.25” (12.02m) and Huberty was runner-up in the hammer throw at 158'0” (48.16m).
Shelby Dugas (New Prague, Minn./New Prague HS) was second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 10'4” (3.15m) and
Alex Blair (Drake, Saskatchewan/Lanigan Central HS) was third in the high jump, clearing a height of 4'11.75” (1.52m).
The Saints will have their 4x100-meter relay team, spring medley relay team, distance medley team and
Tracy Perish (Browerville, Minn./Browerville HS) in the heptathlon competing at the 103rd Drake Relays. Perish will kick things off on Wednesday afternoon. The rest of the Saints will be competing at the Saint Mary's Open on Saturday in Winona with the meet scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
