Lyscio Throws a Bomb in the Hammer as Saints Place Third at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team placed third out of 12 teams on Saturday at the St. Norbert Invitational.

The Saints finished with 70 points, while Ripon College was second with 98 points and the host, St. Norbert College, won with 218 points.

Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) jumped all the way up to 12th on NCAA Division III list in the hammer throw today after finishing second with a program record mark of 184'10” (56.35m). That is over two meters further than his previous school record.

Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.90 seconds. Connor Stevens (Madison, Wis./Monona Grove HS) also won the 400-meter hurdles, posting a time of 58.86 seconds.

John Howard (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) was runner-up in the discus with a toss of 135'0” (41.15m). He was also third in the hammer throw with a distance of 146'7” (44.69m) and fifth in the shot put at 41'10.5” (12.76m).

The 4x100-meter relay team of Sherome Milon (Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS), Hanson, Ryan Guentzel (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) and Addison Griffin (Superior, Wis./Superior HS (UW-River Falls)) were third with a time of 43.66 seconds. Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)) finished fourth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.61.

The men's 4x200-meter relay team will be competing at the 103rd Drake Relays on Friday afternoon. The rest of the men's squad will next be competing at the Saint Mary's Open on Saturday in Winona. Action for that meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
