Lyscio Wins Hammer at Twin Ports Open

DULUTH, Minn. – Senior Tom Lyscio (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd HS) won the hammer throw as the St. Scholastica men's track & field team competed at the Twin Ports Open at the University of Minnesota Duluth on Tuesday.

Lyscio won the hammer with a mark of 173'3” (52.80m). John Howard (Big Lake, Minn./Big Lake HS) was third in the event with toss of 150'7” (45.91m). Howard was also second in the shot put at 43'1.5” (13.14m) and third in the discus at 139'4” (42.47m).

Other runner-up finishers for the Saints today included Travis Ambuehl (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell HS) in the pole vault, clearing a height of 13'9.25” (4.20m). Christopher Doran (Royalton, Minn./Andover HS) was second in the javelin with a mark of 139'4” (42.46m). Justin Hanson (Atwater, Minn./Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City HS) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.26 seconds.

Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) was third in the long jump with a leap of 19'6.25” (5.95m). He was also fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 39'7” (12.06m). Justin Mann (Bigfork, Minn./Bigfork HS (Itasca Community College)) was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 41'11.5” (12.79m).

Besides CSS and UMD, the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Michigan Tech University and North Central University competed in the meet.

The Saints will be in action again on Saturday at the St. Norbert Invitational in De Pere, Wis. Events will begin at 10:30 a.m.
