Bethany Lutheran Results
DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team won a pair of Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) dual matches on Saturday by a score of 9-0 against North Central University and Bethany Lutheran College.
In the first match of the day against the Rams of North Central,
Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) at No. 1 singles,
Cortne Solberg (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji HS) at No.2 and
Megan Lawrence (Park Rapids, Minn./Park Rapids HS) at No. 3 all won by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Aleksandra Ochrymowicz (Winnipeg, Manitoba/St. Mary’s Academy) won at the No. 4 spot 6-2, 6-1,
Kelsey Geiger (Champlin, Minn./Champlin Park HS) at No. 5 won 6-2, 6-4 and
Kelli Johnson (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West HS) at No. 6 won 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles play, the No. 1 team of Bungarden and
Rachael Zwiener (St. Cloud, Minn./Home School) won 8-1. Both the No. 2 duo of
Alexis Gunderson (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) and
Allie Carlson (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) and the No. 3 team of
Jill Kammerer (St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley HS) and
Pamela Hartley (Lima, Peru/Franklin Roosevelt College) won by an 8-0 shutout. The Rams remain winless this season at 0-6.
In the second match against Bethany Lutheran, Solberg at No. 2 and Lawrence at No. 3 would win by shutout again. For Lawrence, she has now won nine straight singles matches. Zwiener played at No. 1 and won 6-0, 6-1. The scores would flip-flop for Ochrymowicz at the No. 4 spot 6-1, 6-0. Hartley won at No. 5 by scores of 6-3, 6-1 and Geiger won at No. 6 by scores of 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles, it was an 8-0 shutout for the No. 1 team of Bungarden and Zwiener. Carlson and Gunderson were 8-3 winners at No. 2 and finally at No. 3, Kammerer and Johnson won 8-1. The Saints have now won 97 straight UMAC dual matches. The Vikings fall to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Saints (12-6, 6-0 UMAC) will travel to face Northwestern College in a make-up match on Tuesday at the Lifetime Fitness in Fridley. Action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
